What are 5 Famous Places in Detroit

Many visitors bypass my birthplace of Detroit in favour of seeing locations like New York or Los Angeles.

Don’t get me wrong: I adore New York and Tinsletown, but there’s something special about Detroit. I hope this essay has demonstrated how much Detroit has to offer as a tourist destination.

We Detroiters are quite enthusiastic about our city, and we have a good right to be. These days, Detroit Rock City is accomplishing incredible things. Come check it out for yourself!

1. Sample Michigan Beers

There are several states that produce excellent beers, but few do it better than Michigan. That’s not me bragging as a native Michigander — the Mitten produces five of the top ten beers in the country! I’m pleased to see that my personal favourite, Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale, is at the top of the list.

You’ll want to try a few of these great beers during your stay in Detroit Rock City. Michigan craft beer is easy to find in the city, as we’re rather proud of our brews. If you’re looking for fun things to do in Detroit, check out one of these breweries.

2. Local Festival

When travelling, attending a local festival is always enjoyable. Throughout the year, Motown hosts a variety of festivals of various proportions. We have plenty of music and cuisine festivals, as well as vehicle and boat shows, which should come as no surprise.

Even though the winter months might be cold, Detroit still has festivals! Every January, the North American International Auto Show takes over Detroit.

The Detroit Grand Prix and the Woodward Dream Cruise are two other car-related events. Music, the city that originated techno hosts one of the world’s top electronic music events.

3. Great Lake

In Michigan, we have a slogan that reads, “Great lakes, great times!” While Detroit is on the river, you don’t have to go far to access the Great Lakes. After roughly an hour’s drive north of the city, you’ll arrive at Lake Huron. Or, you can travel south for around 30 minutes to reach Lake Erie.

A trip to one of the lakes is without a doubt one of the top things to do near Detroit. On weekends, there are a lot of people that come out to spend a day on the water.

The Great Lakes provide opportunities for fishing, swimming, wakeboarding, and other activities. One of the best things to do in Detroit is to visit one of the Great Lakes.

The issue is that you are unlikely to have a boat with you. If you want to go out on the ocean, you should book a tour.

4. Detroit Princess

If you appreciate being on the water, a river cruise should be on your list of things to do in Detroit. The Detroit Princess Riverboat is a huge 5-story cruise ship that can accommodate up to 1,500 guests.

On this dinner cruise down the Detroit River, you’ll get to enjoy spectacular views of the city as well as a delectable meal. Chefs slice prime rib and succulent pork tenderloin, and there’s a buffet with a variety of options.

Also to the vistas and meals, there will be live Motown classics. Each level also features a full bar, making this one incredible floating party!

5. RenCen

It is the world headquarters of General Motors and is referred to as the RenCen. For a long time, the RenCen has been a prominent Detroit attraction. Come here to view Michigan’s tallest structure from the outside, then go inside to explore.

Check out GM World, which features some of the company’s most recent automobiles. If you wish to stay some time, there are many stores, cafes, and restaurants within the complex. While the restaurant on the top floor closed, a new one on the 71st and 72nd floors will open soon.
